With the introduction of iOS 18, Apple has ramped up the Home Screen customization game – like never before. One of my favorite tweaks is the ability to add a tint to the iPhone Home Screen icons for a more fascinating look and feel.
What I love the most about this new add-on is that it provides a neat way to customize your home screen appearance by tweaking the color of all the app icons at once. Once activated, it makes everything including the App Library, interface, and home screen pages look in sync.
Add a Tint to Your iPhone Home Screen Icons in iOS 18
For ages, the iOS home screen had been dull with very little room for customization. However, the arrival of iOS 14 opened the gateway thanks to the inclusion of Home Screen widgets. In iOS 16, Apple further enhanced the wow factor by incorporating the Lock Screen widgets and creating custom Lock Screen wallpapers. In the latest iteration of iOS, the iPhone maker has taken customization to a whole new level. Things like the Lock Screen controls gallery and a built-in tool for changing the appearance of app icons seem to have changed the entire dimension.
- To get going, long press on an empty space on your Home Screen to trigger the jiggle mode.
- Once you have activated the jiggle mode, tap on the Edit button in the top-right corner of the screen.
- Now, select “Customize” in the menu.
- When the customization menu shows up, tap on the “Tinted” option.
- After that, you can use the sliders to perfectly change the tint.
- Check out the eyedropper icon that lets you choose a hue from a specific region of your current wallpaper.
- Having customized your iPhone Home Screen, tap outside the Customize panel and you are all set.
As someone who has used the iPhone for several years, I must say that iOS 18 has looked to be a more complete package. Apart from giving special attention to the personalization aspect, the Cupertino giant has put stability and efficiency at the forefront. That’s the reason why the latest update has managed to garner praise from all quarters.
If iOS 18 succeeds in living up to the expectations, it will turn out to be one of the biggest updates. Though I can’t tell whether or not the iOS update will live true to its potential, it does seem to heading in the right direction – in all fairness.
